Task/Problem Overview
This knowledge base article covers miscellaneous charges. Miscellaneous charges are added to Savance Enterprise as a type of inventory item. They can be used for any type of extra charge you would like to designate it for, i.e. Tool Rental or Expedited Order fees.
Creating a Miscellaneous Charge Part Number
You can add a miscellaneous charge to Savance Enterprise by hitting the New button on the Inventory Lookup screen. To get there go to Inventory > Inventory Manager > Item Manager.
Alternatively, you can get there by right-clicking within a quote, and select Edit/Create Part Number in BS.
This brings up the Inventory Creation Wizard. Simply start filling in the details you are prompted for on each step of the wizard and hit the Next button. When you are required to choose the Inventory Type, be sure to choose the Misc Charge option.
On the Manufacturer and Legacy Info step of the wizard, be sure to add a unique part number that will primarily be used to reference the miscellaneous charge. There is no need to enter a UPC as we will automatically generate it for you.
Next, choose which Revenue Account this fee should be associated with. Typically you would select Miscellaneous Income and select if this item should be taxable.
Within the Pricing & Cost select the Default Pricing Profile and enter your pricing information.
The rest of the information that you are able to key in is optional, so fill in as much as you want. Once finished entering your information select ‘Finish’ and your new item will be created.
Using a Miscellaneous Charge Part Number
Once the miscellaneous charge has been successfully added, you can enter it on a quote just like with a regular inventory item. Since it isn't a regular inventory item, things like quantity and back-ordering do not apply.
You are also able to search for miscellaneous charges using Inventory Lookup. By default, they are associated with the SENI manufacturer, which stands for Savance Enterprise Non-Inventory. Searching this manufacturer is the quickest way to see all miscellaneous items in the system.
